Cite the Record
Before you begin

This is unlike most video tools.

Most apps record video by sending it to a cloud server. Cite the Record does not. Here's what happens when you record a clip:

  1. 1
You paste a link from ParliamentLive. Cite the Record just opens the public Parliament page — the same one you could visit yourself.
  2. 2
Your own browser records the clip. Not Cite the Record. The video is captured by code running inside your browser tab and held on your computer.
  3. 3
The file saves to your computer. A standard video file in your Downloads folder — or wherever you choose to save it.
Sent to CTR · nothing. At no point does Cite the Record see, receive, or store your video. We just provide the page you're looking at right now.
How can I verify this?
Open your browser's Developer Tools while you record. Press F12 (or Cmd + Option + I on a Mac) and click the Network tab. Press Record on the next screen. You'll see no requests leaving your computer during the recording — only the Parliament video loading, just as if you watched it directly on parliamentlive.tv.

The proof is in your own browser, not our promise.

How this works

Cite the Record runs in your browser. It records the tab or window you choose and saves the file on your computer. Cite the Record does not receive, host, parse, or upload your video.
